Freeborn County commissioners gave the green light Tuesday for a new hog finishing barn in Hayward Township.

The barn, which will be able to house 2,450 pigs, will be at 19208 830th Ave.

Freeborn County Administrator John Kluever said there was no discussion about the issue during the board meeting.

The facility, which is planned to be 51 feet by 390 feet, will be built near another existing hog barn.

He estimated the barn would be built in the spring.

In other action, the commissioners:

• Approved Winston Beiser as the county’s new drainage ditch inspector.

The commissioners voted 3-2 on a ballot vote for Beiser, and then unanimously in a role-call vote.

Beiser replaces former inspector, Phil Tennis.

It is a part-time position.

• Authorized Freeborn County Sheriff Bob Kindler to fill a vacant patrol deputy position.
