Veterans celebrate in St. Ansgar

The 12th annual veterans Christmas party was held recently in St. Ansgar, Iowa. Veterans and spouses of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War attended from 13 Minnesota and Iowa communities. Of special note are 93-year-old WWII WASP flight instructor for male pilots, Liz Strofus, of Faribault, Leo Priebe of Elma, Iowa, who was in the 90th Infantry Divison first wave landing on Omaha Beach during “D” Day and Richard Helling of New Hampton, Iowa, with Patton’s third Army was wounded two times during the Battle of the Bulge. The party was sponsored by Phil Fleischer. -- Submitted
