ST. PAUL — Triston Westerlund of Albert Lea will wrestle in the Class AAA 182-pound individual state championship later tonight.

Road to the championship:

Round 1: Westerlund won by major decision (15-4) over Gary Knick of St. Paul Central.

Quarterfinals: Westerlund beat Ricky Briggs of St. Michael Albertville by fall in 1 minute.

Semifinals: Westerlund earned a 5-4 decision over Sam Moeller of Rosemount.

Championship: Triston Westerlund will compete against David Johnson of Apple Valley.

Westerlund has a record of 42-5. His opponent, Johnson is 27-1.
