Memorial services for Loyle Flo will be held at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Curtis Zieske of Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea will officiate. Interment of his ashes will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Bricelyn next to his father. Military honors accorded by Albert Lea veterans organizations.

Loyle Flo, 67 of Ath, Belgium, died Oct. 29, 2012, at AnBroese Tare Hospital in Mons, Belgium. He was a loving husband, an amazing father, and caring son and brother.

Funeral services for Loyle were held in Ath, Belgium on Nov. 3, 2012, with full military honors. He died of pneumonia followed by a massive heart attack.

Loyle was born on July 3, 1945, to Marlin “Nig” and Mavis (Rygh) Flo in Albert Lea. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bricelyn and graduated from Thompson High School in 1963 before attending Mankato State University. In 1965, he enlisted in the Army and served his country for 22 years with an honorable discharge. During his time of service, he was shot and wounded in Vietnam and spent several weeks in Great Lakes Military Hospital in Chicago. After retirement from the military, he was employed by the Stars and Stripes military newspaper for 10 years.

He was an avid fan of all sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings, hardly missing a game and knowing all of the player’s stats. He enjoyed watching TV, old movies and crossword puzzles.

Loyle is survived by his wife of 44 years, Micheline (Latelier) Flo of Belgium; son, Michael and wife Nancy of Belgium; grandson, Nolan of Belgium; son, Dan Flo of Albert Lea; grandson, Patrick of Albert Lea; mother, Ida “Mavis” Flo of Apple Valley; sister, Randi Johnson of Rosemount; brother-in-law, Terry Johnson of Farmington; niece, Andrea Lyman and husband Scott and their children, Cole, Blake, and Brooke, of Lakeville; nephews, Darrick Johnson and fiancé Stacy Swenson of Farmington and Kyle Johnson of Rosemount; Joann Green of Albert Lea; Lorna Anderson of Albert Lea; Dale and wife Barbara Flo of LeSueur; Donna Arenson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Wanda Rygh of Rake, Iowa; special cousins, Wes Jellinger of Dexter and Ronald and Thomas Rygh of Thompson, Iowa; friends, Roy and wife, Diane Stockwell, of Albert Lea and Christian Lartelier of Ath, Belgium; sisters-in-law, Nelly, Jean, Ponnette and Josiane Lartelier.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marlin Flo; grandparents, Joseph and Madeline Flo and Lewis and Lillian Rgyh; father- and mother-in-law, Augustin Lartelier and Mariette DoogenBroodt; aunts and uncles, Lester and wife Annie Flo, Arlo and Hilma Flo, Ronald and Beverly Flo, Harry Green, Glorian “Toots” Kennedy, Wally Anderson, Lloyd, Cecil, Glenn and Bernice Rygh; and brother-in-law, John Lartelier.

After retirement, Loyle would visit family and friends for three months out of the year. He will be greatly missed. Good bye for now, but not forever.
