Foundation of US is a moral society

A culture war is being waged to dismantle the Judeo-Christian foundation of this nation. This is evident in efforts to redefine traditional marriage. Those advocating same-sex marriage claim this is a marriage equality or civil rights issue. But this is a moral issue, attempting to redefine a godly institution rooted in the biblical scriptures.

Totalitarian socialism can masquerade itself under the premise of “equality” or “civil rights.” This socialist agenda is blocked by a biblically based civilization with healthy nuclear families, so marriage becomes a target. Joseph Stalin stated, “America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.”

Forcing the institutionalizing of sexual perversion upon Minnesota citizens is not only reprehensible but is also an assault on religious liberty. This attacks and rejects scripture. It will force Bible believers to violate the law when it forces them to violate their conscience beneath the suffocating tyranny of “political correctness.”

Marriage as instituted by God has limitations. Jesus declared, “Have you not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they two shall be one flesh?’” (Matthew 19:5). Same-sex marriage proponents advocate genderless marriage. But Jesus clearly states one male and one female joining together, not Party A and Party B.

The biblical standard of morals and ethics is ingrained in the foundation of American culture from its inception and embedded into our laws and upon our monuments. Redefining marriage in this way opposes the word of God and natural law, and will lead to a Pandora’s Box of moral chaos.

If marriage solely between a man and a woman is limiting, would it also be limiting to insist marriage be just between two individuals? Would not polygamy, polyandry and multiple marriages now come under scrutiny as marriage equality?

And why limit marriage to two adults? In line with this logic, could not marriage equality be raised in defense of child marriage or adult/child marriage as well? Would this be progressive enlightenment?

God’s standard for marriage must be maintained to preserve an ordered society with moral integrity. One can call a dog’s tail a leg, but that doesn’t make it one. Faith in God should not be at the margin of public life, but at its core. Our right to life and liberty is from the Lord and is what makes our constitutional government possible. John Adams asserted, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Traditional families are the bedrock of our society. Destroy the God-ordained family and the fabric of our nation will inevitably crumble. May the legislators of the state of Minnesota show courage and conviction to uphold our Judeo-Christian heritage and preserve our dearly held religious freedom.
