Wa Tan Ye service club

Dorothy Wedge called the May meeting to order. Roll call was taken and there were seven members present. Alice Petersen read the minutes of the April meeting. She also read the treasurer’s report. Both were approved and placed on file. Correspondence was also read. A report was given by the members who attended the district meeting in Cresco, Iowa. They enjoyed attending the meeting.

A memorial gift was received in honor of DeLores Wegner.

The food shelf collection was for $26.

The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be June 3.

 

United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women met April 3 with a piano selection by Merle Stensrud. Judy Hargrave of Martha Circle introduced the guest speaker, Ben Mortenson of the Albert Lea Police Department. Mortenson spoke on identity theft.

President Gerry Horswell opened the meeting with a prayer and thanked Mary-Grace Circle for the brunch and Martha Circle for the program.

The March minutes, circle reports and correspondence were read by JoAnn Seuser and the treasurer’s report by Ruth Vermedahl. As an extra fundraiser members were urged to place one dollar bills having an “L” or “G” on them in a special bag.

Adean Turner, spiritual growth chairwoman, spoke on spiritual light in the book of Matthew. Hargrave gave a report on the book, “I am Hutterite” by Mary Ann Kirkby. The annual fundraiser for Emma Norton Home will be this month. Rose Hood, sunshine chairwoman, sent out 14 cards.

Southern Praise District meeting was April 26 at Buffalo Lake and Ham Lake. The next meeting was May 1 with a memorial service at 10 a.m. followed by a noon luncheon.
