DFL lawmaker to throw hat in for Minn. secretary of statePublished 10:07am Friday, June 21, 2013
ST. PAUL — A longtime Democratic legislator says she’s moving ahead with a campaign for Minnesota secretary of state.
Rep. Debra Hilstrom of Brooklyn Center said she will file campaign fundraising paperwork today.
She will be competing for the office being vacated by Democratic Secretary of State Mark Ritchie following his second term.
So far, only one other Democrat, Rachel Larson Bohman, has announced a campaign, but several others are considering it.
A few Republicans are also looking at running to be the state’s election chief.
