House Majority Leader Erin Murphy and District 27A Rep. Shannon Savick will host a roundtable discussion Tuesday about education at the Albert Lea High School.

The representatives will be joined by teachers and staff of the Albert Lea School District, and the public is invited to attend.

The event is slated to begin at 4 p.m.

This session, the Legislature passed a historic education bill that increased funding from early childhood to higher education by statewide by $725 million.

Among other things, these new investments helped fund all-day kindergarten for the first time in state history and increase the basic funding formula by 3 percent statewide over two years.

The K-12 schools in Albert Lea and surrounding districts will see more than $4.7 million in new education funding over the next two years.
