Armed burglary reported

A person with a gun was reportedly attempting a burglary at 9:07 p.m. Sunday at 411 Commercial St. Police report the person took off on foot and was not located. Police are reportedly still looking for the subject.

 

Southwest staff call police

Three staff members at Southwest Middle School were trying to coax a student back to school who had walked away around 2 p.m. Friday. Police reports show the student ended up going back to the school with the teachers.

 

Police respond to possible fight

Seven people were reportedly fighting at City Lot 6, off of Clark Street behind Tiger City Sports, around 1:43 a.m. Sunday. Police responded and found no weapons. No one wanted to press charges, according to reports.

 

3 minors cited

Two minors, one 18 and one 17, were cited for illegal consumption just before midnight Friday at Countryside Inn, 2102 E. Main St., according to police. One of those minors was cited for providing false information, and a third minor, 17, was cited for the same charge. All three were released to their parents.

 

Man receives multiple citations

Justin Michael Dahle, 27, was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and for not wearing a seat belt during a traffic stop at 701 S. Broadway at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, according to Albert Lea police.

 

Motor vehicles reported stolen

A motor vehicle was reported stolen from 308 Summer Ave. to police at 10:24 a.m. Friday. The vehicle was later found on Valley Avenue, and police gave the owner a ride to pick it up, according to reports.

In a separate incident, a motor vehicle was reported stolen to police at 11 a.m. Sunday at 2108 Consul St., Albert Lea Mini Storage. The car was reportedly just bought for parts from Motor Inn before it was stolen.

 

Hit and run reported

A woman reported to police that her van had been damaged in a hit-and-run crash near 123 N. Broadway. She believes it happened sometime between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, according to reports.

 

Storage shed broken into

A storage shed at 1111 Madison Ave. was reported broken into to police at 3:45 p.m. Saturday. It was unclear if any items were missing.

 

Criminal damage reported

A vehicle reportedly had its windows smashed and tires slashed at 1333 Abbott St. The incident was reported to police at 7:44 a.m. Saturday.

 

Property stolen

A black Mongoose BMX bike worth $150 was reported stolen from 1712 Eberhardt St. to police at 1:17 p.m. Sunday.

A TV was reported stolen to police at 2:53 a.m. Saturday at 2301 E. Main St., according to reports.

A woman reported a light she uses for plants was stolen to police at 10:23 a.m. Sunday. She told police she believes someone broke into her basement screen window at 123 Adams Ave.

 

2 call in noise complaints from downtown festival

Albert Lea police received two separate calls around 11 p.m. Saturday that the music was too loud at the street dance on Broadway Avenue.

 

Children found on roof of elementary school

Six or seven children were reported to be on the roof of Hawthorne Elementary School at 5 p.m. Sunday. Police didn’t find any children when they arrived.

 

Wagon loses wheel, closes road

A grain wagon lost its front wheel around 7 p.m. Friday on 655th Avenue and was blocking much of the road. The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports that the township put up road closed signs.
