Lisa Soland has written more than 80 plays and her work has been performed all over the globe. A native of Spring Grove, Ill., she resides in Knoxville, Tenn., where she teaches playwriting and theater at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn.

She will be at Lakeview Elementary School at 1 p.m. Friday, reading to first- through third-graders. She will be at Book World at Northbridge Mall 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. One of her most recent books is “The Writer’s Motivation,” an antidote for writer’s block.

“Reading this book will help you come to a better understanding of who you are because I’m a writer too — just like you,” she wrote for the description of the book.

Her husband of 12 years is Deryk Stilwell, who grew up in Austin and is a dear friend of Albert Lea insurance agent and trophy maker Tom Jones. Stilwell also works in the insurance field.

“We met in Los Angeles. We moved out there the same year, but did not meet till 15 years after we lived there. Meeting him was the best thing that ever happened to me,” she said.
