Thirty students participated in the second annual “Check It Out” chess tournament on March 22. Brechin Hoechst, a Lakeview Elementary student, came in first, with Seth Petersen, a Hayfield student, coming in second. In third place were Will Isaacson from Sibley Elementary, and Ethan Battle from Halverson Elementary. Sportsmanship winner was Ava Corey-Gruenes from Lakeview.
