Steve and Roxanne made a home in Albert Lea raising their two sons, Travis and Mitch. He was always helping his late parents care for their properties and the junk yard. He adored his grandson, “Z” and shared many packages of Oreos with him. Steve was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting pheasants in South Dakota, coyotes in North Dakota, hogs in Oklahoma and  turkey and deer. He was a proud member of the CVCC and Owatonna Gun Club, earning awards in trap shooting and always striving to be better than his rival hunting buddies. He had many adventures with his loyal companions Jake, Abby and Randy. When he wasn’t hunting, you could find him riding his Harley around town visiting friends and family. Steve was known by his friends and family for his big laugh, smart mouth and helping hands. After losing a 14-month battle with cancer, his final request was for his body to be donated to the Mayo Anatomical Department for medical research.

Steve is survived by his wife, Roxanne; his son, Travis; his grandson, Zaden; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Brenke; sisters-in-law Eunice Bolinger, Debra Chodur (Gary), Darla Nelson (Graden) and Connie Talamantes; brothers-in-law Steven Brenke (Rosie) and Darrell Brenke; nephews and nieces Danielle Bure (Damian), Justin Bolinger, Cody Bolinger, Sara Chodur, Nathan Chodur, David Villarreall, Anthony Villarreall, Colt Nelson, Blake Talamantes, Adison Talamantes, Amber Rose Brenke and Darrell Jr. Brenke; great-nephews and nieces Desmond, Ryleigh, Laynie, Gavin, Korah, Savanna, Elijah, Selena, Angelo and Karmine; special family Josh Miller, Brynn and Jaegar and godson, Cashus.
