I am writing in response to the recent comments about the state’s funding of all-day kindergarten. State Rep. Shannon Savick’s response to state representative candidate Peggy Bennett’s column was that schools will have an increase in funding.

Yes, we have an increase at the start, but Savick neglects to tell us of the eventual cuts. We now have an increase in funding to support all-day kindergarten, but we will lose funding at all the other grade levels soon after.

Last fall, the district staff attended a presentation by our superintendent. He informed us that these cuts would have a great negative impact on our schools. Why doesn’t Savick tell us the whole truth?
