A Happy Medium by Erin Murtaugh

Dear Albert Lea High School class of 2014,

We did it. From the time we first came together in seventh grade at Southwest Middle School, we’ve come so far and gone through so much. We even managed to take an unforgettable senior class photo.

Now, as we walk across the stage on June 6, we must remember something. Always remember where you come from. As we all go our separate ways, we create new lives for ourselves. Don’t forget the friends and memories you made here.

Someday we’ll all come back for a reunion and laugh at the things we did while we were here and the memories we made along the way. Some of those things are yet to come in the next couple of days.

There’s still time to make memories before graduation and in the summer following before we all get going our separate ways. I dare you to make some more amazing memories with our classmates before its too late. As Principal Jim Wagner told us earlier this week, take as many pictures as you can. Photos are one of the greatest ways to hold on to a memory.

While some of us are going far away for school, military or even just to travel, others are staying around to work or to get their college general requirements done. There’s nothing wrong with whatever you choose to do. The one thing I hope for all of you is that whatever you’ve decided to do, I hope it truly makes you happy.
