NORTHWOOD — The North Central Iowa Genealogical Society is sponsoring a program on the restoration and history of the Stromstein Building.

Peter Ausenhus of Worth Brewing will present a short program at the Stromstein Building, 611 Central Ave., at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Bring chairs.

Northwood’s downtown has been identified as a National Historic District and most of the buildings have plaques regarding their history. Attendees might consider walking the downtown and parking near the museum at 917 Central Ave., according to a news release.

After the program, attendees are invited to gather in the basement of the museum for refreshments. Sharlene Stoddard will also highlight a few of the other historic treasures along Central Avenue.

There will be a short business meeting to discuss an expenditure over and above budgeted funds. There are historical displays on the first floor and basement of the museum for those that want to check them out. This meeting is free and open to the public.
