Deck damaged by fire

A deck at 109 Ridge Road was damaged by fire at 1:31 a.m. today, according to Albert Lea police.

Police Chief Dwaine Winkels said there had been a fire going in a fire pit earlier in the night. When the homeowners went to sleep at 10:30 p.m. they thought the fire was out.

A police officer patrolling the area saw the fire, and Albert Lea firefighters extinguished the blaze. The damage was contained to the deck. It is unclear how the fire jumped from the fire pit to the deck.

 

Stolen vehicle recovered in Albert Lea 

A 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo stolen from Mower County was recovered at 3:14 p.m. Tuesday at 1816 E. Main St. in Albert Lea.

 

Flasher spotted on trail

Albert Lea police received a report at 7:22 p.m. Tuesday of a Hispanic male on a bike who was exposing himself and trying to grab a woman on the Blazing Star Trail. Police were unable to locate the alleged victim or the man.

 

Man cited for burning violation

Freeborn County sheriff’s logs state Jimmy Charles Baseman, 32, would be mailed a citation for burning prohibited material at 11:30 p.m. Friday at 75246 State Line Road in Emmons after receiving a report of a car on fire from grass. It had been burning for over an hour.

 

Dog attack reported

Deputies received a report at 8:42 a.m. of two stray pit bulls in a yard at 80580 170th St., Glenville. One of the dogs reportedly tried attacking the person who made the report and the other dog took off running to the north.

 

Gas tank tampered with

Deputies received a report at 8:54 a.m. Saturday of a vehicle that had its gas tank tampered with at 256 Second Ave. N. in Emmons.

 

Gas drive-off reported

About $30 in gasoline was reported stolen at 10:27 p.m. Sunday at 23087 Minnesota Highway 13.

 

Tires slashed

Albert Lea police received a report at 11:41 a.m. Tuesday of a blue Buick with two slashed tires at 300 E. Second St.

 

Building broken into

A building was reported broken into at 10:35 a.m. Sunday at 28022 840th Ave., Hollandale.

 

Thefts reported

A Playstation video game console was reported stolen at 11:12 a.m. Friday from 90152 170th St., according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.

A Straight Talk phone was reported stolen from a vehicle at 2:22 p.m. Tuesday at 902 Abbott St.

About $30 in gasoline was reported stolen at 10:27 p.m. Sunday at 23087 Minnesota Highway 13.

 

Man arrested for assault

Police arrested Roberto A. Gutierrez, 40, for fifth-degree assault at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday at 815 Blackmer Ave.

 

Man arrested for warrant

Freeborn County sheriff’s deputies arrested Kevin Lewis Valentine on a warrant at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday at 510 First Ave. S.E. in Glenville.
