Naeve Hospital Auxiliary will host a linen and bedding sale 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in Room 20 on the lower level next to the cafeteria of the Albert Lea medical center.

Find super soft sheet sets, baby blankets, mink blankets, Sherpa throws, seven-piece comforter sets and authentic Egyptian cotton sheets.

Proceeds from this sale benefit Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

Naeve Hospital Auxiliary, founded in 1906, is a group of volunteers that serves Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea patients and families and raises funds for equipment, furnishings and patient care items.

Volunteer opportunities include the Naeve Hospital Auxiliary gift shop, Naeve Hospital Auxiliary coffee shop, cancer center, periodic special sales, holiday boutique, pediatric tours, comfort blankets, newborn caps, magazine merry-go-round and other miscellaneous activities.

Friday

• The Freeborn County Fair gates open at 7 a.m.

• The Freeborn County Fair Light Horse Show will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Outdoor Arena at the fair, 1031 Bridge Ave. The games competition won’t start before 12:30 p.m.

• A viola and vocal concert will be at 12:15 p.m. at the Mayo Clinic Health System of Albert Lea rotunda, 404 W. Fountain St.

• The Alden Boy Scouts will host a burger feed from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Alden American Legion Club, 151 N. Broadway, Alden.

• Sandra Lee & The Velvets will perform from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Entertainment Square at the Freeborn County Fair, 1031 Bridge Ave.

• Montgomery Gentry will perform at 8:30 p.m. at the Freeborn County Fair, 1031 Bridge Ave.

 

Saturday

• The Freeborn County Fair gates open at 7 a.m.

• The Freeborn County Fair Draft Horse Show will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Outdoor Arena at the fair, 1031 Bridge Ave.

• Find some fresh produce and more at the Albert Lea Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to noon at the Northbridge Mall parking lot, 2510 Bridge Ave.

• A quilt raffle drawing will be at noon in the Creative Arts Building at the Freeborn County Fair, 1031 Bridge Ave.

• Bad Monkey will perform from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Entertainment Square at the Freeborn County Fair, 1031 Bridge Ave.

• The 1979 Albert Lea High School class reunion begins at 7 p.m. at the Green Lea Golf Course, 101 E. Richway Drive. Cost is $12.50. RSVP by calling 402-2797.

• Terri Clark will perform at 8:30 p.m. at the Freeborn County Fair, 1031 Bridge Ave.

 

Sunday

• The Freeborn County Fair gates open at 7 a.m.

• Enjoy Sunday breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 205 W. William St. Pancakes, eggs, sausages, biscuits and gravy, juice, milk or coffee will be served. Cost is $7.

• The Alden American Legion Club will serve breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 151 N. Broadway, Alden. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links, milk, juice and coffee will be served. Cost is $5. Children under age 6 get in for free.

• The D&S Pedal Tractor Pull will be at 1 p.m. at the Freeborn County Fair, 1031 Bridge Ave.

• See the sights of Albert Lea Lake with a Pelican Breeze II public cruise. The cruise starts at 1:30 p.m. but passengers should be at Frank Hall Park to board at 1:15 p.m. A minimum of 10 passengers is required to sail. Cost is $10 per person.

• The Masters of Disaster demolition derby will be 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Freeborn County Fair, 1031 Bridge Ave.
