RICHMOND — The former mayor of Richmond and ex-manager of the town’s amateur baseball team has been arrested on suspicion of stealing money from the team.

Reports said 42-year-old Scott Kron was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into missing money from the team’s charitable gambling proceeds.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Alcohol and Gambling Division began the investigation in May and identified Kron as a person of interest.

Kron was booked and released from jail. No charges have been filed.

Kron resigned as mayor in June, citing personal and health reasons. He also resigned as manager of the Richmond Royals before resigning as mayor.

A message left on Kron’s cellphone was not immediately returned to The Associated Press on Thursday.
