MANKATO — Former Minnesota State football player Isaac Kolstad is going home, five months after he was severely beaten in downtown Mankato.

Kolstad’s wife, Molly, posted on his CaringBridge site Friday that her husband was discharged from inpatient care.

The 24-year-old former Mavericks player has been in hospitals or inpatient rehabilitation since May 11, after he was punched and then kicked in the head.

Molly Kolstad said her husband is not done with therapy yet. She says he will continue occupational, physical and speech therapy at home.

Isaac Kolstad also plans to start using a special treadmill to retain his body to walk and run again, according to his wife.
