Highway lanes and ramps have reopened in Owatonna as the two-year construction project comes to a completion, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The ramps that have reopened are:

Northbound I-35 exit/off-ramp (Exit 41) at Steele County Road 25 (West Bridge Street)

They are the final ramps to open in the project. Additionally, all traffic lanes in both directions have opened this week.

The $19.1 million project replaced the concrete I-35 roadways through Owatonna, as well as the bridges, and it included additional safety features on the corridor, such as auxiliary lanes and lighting. The project with prime contractor Mathiowetz Construction began the second year of construction in April.

There will be some minor shoulder closures as crews finish work, so motorists should continue to follow signs and warnings as they enter the area. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
