Strange how Democrat Paul Thissen has issues with the Republican-controlled House on transparency involved in negotiations on legislation. (See the editorial in Wednesday’s paper.) Where was he when the Democrats controlled both houses and the governorship? Then, it was the Democrat way or the highway. Republicans were not even invited to the table. All legislation discussion was backroom Democrat only. How can you claim to be bipartisan when you only see a problem when the other party has some power? On the same page Jennifer complained about federal tax policy being unfair. She doesn’t mention that 45 percent of the people pay no federal income tax and many receive earned tax credits that give back more money than paid in. These credits were added to during Republican administrations. Republicans are not monsters out to starve the poor. They believe in safety nets, but they also believe in earning people’s votes rather than buying them with someone else’s hard-earned money.
