Thanks for choosing America

I know I am extremely late with my comment, but here it goes:

I would like to respond to an article in the Tribune on Dec. 29. It was about Chang Ruach. First of all, I am so sorry that the world is in such a mess that he had to leave his loved ones, and seek refuge in a strange country. I am very pleased you chose America, the home of freedom and opportunity.

My heart goes out to you. We are proud of people who come to get a hand-up, rather than a hand out. You are doing your best to make a difference in this out of control world.

I’m a great-grandma, and I send you a hug and a handshake for a fellow American. I, for one, am proud to call you family. Just remember to be present in your family. You can teach your children that God has given them a place to be safe and happy. Thanks for being such a marvelous example for them.

I’d like to meet your family sometime. Even if I never do, I will pray that your dreams for the future will become reality.
