Farm to Fork Dinner planned in Northwood

Worth Brewing Co. and Caliaope Catering of Kensett have teamed up with Healthy Harvest of North Iowa and local farmers to present a Worth County Farm to Fork Dinner from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 30 in the Beehive Ballroom at Worth Brewing Co., 835 Central Ave. in Northwood.

The dinner is a collaboration of local chefs, producers and brewer. Healthy Harvest of North Iowa is the leading resource for finding and supporting local and sustainable food in the area. With the organization’s help, Andrea Berger of Caliaope Catering will make a three-course meal with all local ingredients. Each course is paired with a Worth beer.

According to a press release, Caliaope Catering is a regular feature of the Worth Brewing kitchen and is known for its delicious and unique dishes. The dinner will feature a fresh summer salad of watermelon, cucumber noodles and feta cheese. The main dish will be a pork chop stuffed with a kale and onion stuffing. Dessert will be a chocolate torte with a berry compote. Products will come from producers in Worth County and North Iowa.

Healthy Harvest has hosted a number of Farm to Fork Dinners across North Iowa.

“This is our first Farm to Fork Dinner in Worth County,” Healthy Harvest Executive Director Jan Libbey said. “We are excited to see this dinner come together and look forward to tasting and talking local food in Worth County with these great partners and local producers.”

Support for the event is provided in part by Worth County Board of Supervisors and a Farmers Market Promotion Program grant.
