Coach Margo Wayne was happy they were Thursday.

The Tigers won a three-team indoor meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield, totaling 59 points to Austin’s 42 and Henry Sibley’s 33.

&uot;I was real pleased with our performances,&uot; said Wayne. &uot;Everyone stepped up and looked like veterans, even if they weren’t.&uot;

The Tigers won seven events.

Individual winners were Karissa Ladlie, mile; Heather Heijerman, 440; Jane Skrlin, 2 mile; Kari Beese, shot put; and Ashley Olson, triple jump.

Nyna McDermott, Ladlie, Angie Schuhmacher and Melissa Roche won the 2-mile relay while Heijerman, Emily Bartusek, Sarah Frydenlund and Roche were first in the mile relay.

Other Albert Lea places: Frydenlund, second, 55 hurdles; Beth Kolling, second, 55 dash and high jump; Kara Haroldson, second, shot put; Anne Larson, second, mile; Marie Thompson, third, long jump; Angie Olson, third, 55 dash; Ashley Olson, fourth, 55 hurdles; Tiffany Truesdell, fourth, mile; Jenny Barr, fourth, 440; Annie Ayers, fourth, 2 mile; Schuhmacher, fourth, 80 dash.

While Wayne was impressed with the Tigers as a team, she said some individuals stood out.

&uot;Beese threw the shot 10 feet farther than anyone else,&uot; said the coach. &uot;She was very impressive. Roche was very tough, Kolling had a good day and Skrlin ran a tremendous 2-mile. Heijerman was fun to watch in the 440. Both our winning relays were real exciting. It was a real team effort.&uot;
