Unfortunately for the Tigers, the first half told the story of the game.

The Tigers gave up three goals in the first 17 minutes Thursday night and lost 3-1 in a Big Nine game at Rochester Century.

Coach Dawn Conzemius, whose team fell to 0-2 with the loss, said she was pleased to see the Tigers not give up after falling behind so far so early.

&uot;Even though we were down right away, our girls were able to pick things up,&uot; said Conzemius. &uot;We saw a big improvement in the second half.&uot;

The Panthers put the first goal in the net at the 10-minute mark, scoring on a high shot in the upper left corner of the goal.

&uot;It was a good shot,&uot; said Conzemius. &uot;It would have been hard for a keeper to get.&uot;

The second goal, at 15 minutes, was similar.

&uot;It was another very high shot, very difficult to make a save on,&uot; said Conzemius. &uot;They were both good, quality shots that you can’t do much about.&uot;

The Panthers made it 3-0 at the 17-minute mark, scoring on a breakaway.

The Tigers’ goal came 35 minutes into the second half, with Brittany Hanson scoring on a throw-in assist from Kim DeYoung.

Rochester Century outshot the Tigers 35-21.

Jenny Elseth played an outstanding game in goal for the Tigers, according to Conzemius.

&uot;Jenny had a real good game,&uot; said the coach. &uot;Both the Century coach and the referees commented on how impressed they were with her play. Hanson also played real well.&uot;

The Tigers’ junior varsity lost 4-0.

The Tigers are off until Tuesday, when they play a 7 p.m. game at Rochester Mayo. The time for next Thursday’s game at Austin has been changed, with the junior varsity set for 5:30 and the varsity for 7:30.
