WATERVILLE – The scores pretty much told the story for the Glenville-Emmons volleyball team.

The Wolverines played well at times and not so well in others, splitting a pair of matches while dropping two others in Saturday’s Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Invitational.

The Wolverines opened with a pair of ties, defeating Jordan 16-14 in game one but dropping game two by the same score, then beating Maple River 15-12 and losing 15-11.

In the final round of pool play, the Wolverines lost 15-3, 16-14 to Montgomery-Lonsdale.

The Wolverines’ pool play results put them in the consolation bracket, where they fell to St. Clair 15-6, 10-15, 15-7.

&uot;We played well in some games and not so well in other games,&uot; said Glenville-Emmons coach Craig Rayman. &uot;We got to try some people in different spots and most of them did pretty well. It was a long day. The kids were tired by the end.&uot;

The leading servers for the tournament were Megan Avery 38-for-41 with one ace, Fallon Lorenzen 26-for-28 with four aces, Jenny Rayman 15-for-15, Jaci Madson 22-for-24, Jolene Peterson 20-for-23, Arianne Learn 27-for-31, Shari Lair 21-for-25 and Emily Bernau 4-for-4.

Learn led the team with nine kills and two tips, going 6-for-10 blocking with one block kill. Lair had six kills, Katie Erickson four, Jenny Rayman two. Erickson was 10-for-17 blocking with one block kill.

Peterson totaled a team-best nine set assists. Lorenzen had eight, Avery six, Madson two.

The Wolverines return to Gopher Conference play tonight at Alden-Conger.
