The Albert Lea Fire Department is visiting first-grade and preschool classes this week in honor of National Fire Prevention Week. Members of the Red Shift -&160;Jim Berg, Lowell Doppelhammer, Alan Nielsen and Dennis Gore – visited the Albert Lea Community Child Care Center’s St. John’s site Tuesday and talked about their equipment, trucks, fire safety and the importance of smoke detectors. The firefighters also encouraged the children to tell their parents about the fire department’s open house from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. Here, Lowell Doppelhammer shows children a smoke detector.
