Tribune Reporter Randy Petersen has been named managing editor of the Miami News-Record in northeast Oklahoma.

The Miami newspaper is owned by Boone Newspapers, parent company of the Albert Lea Tribune, Austin Daily Herald and other publications.

Petersen will join Floyd Jernigan, former Tribune managing editor turned News-Record publisher.

&uot;While it will be hard to leave Minnesota for a second time, I’m excited by the opportunity to grow in the newspaper business and meet new challenges,&uot; said Petersen. &uot;I’ll miss many of the people here, both on the staff and in the areas I cover.&uot;

Tribune Managing Editor Jim Boyenga noted that Petersen will also be missed, both at the newspaper and in the community of Albert Lea.

&uot;We’re happy Randy has earned new responsibilities within our newspaper company, but will miss him at the same time. Randy has made significant contributions to the content and operation of the Albert Lea Tribune,&uot; Boyenga said.

&uot;I appreciate the opportunities given to me here, under managing editor Jim Boyenga and publishers like Christine Moser. It is those opportunities that have allowed me to make this move,&uot; Petersen said.

A search for candidates to fill the Tribune editorial position continues.
