That’s been the story for the 1999 Glenville-Emmons Wolverines.

The Wolverines played well early in the season, winning three Gopher Conference matches, but they haven’t won since junior Aly Rayman – last year’s team MVP – went down with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. She was lost for the season and is scheduled for surgery in November.

&uot;It would have been interesting to see how we’d have done if we’d had her all season,&uot; said Aly’s father and coach, Craig Rayman. &uot;But I don’t want to make a big deal out of it. Hindsight is always 20-20. Let’s just say I wish we’d have had her all season.&uot;

The Wolverines’ season record slid to 6-17-2 and their conference mark fell to 3-10 Thursday night with a 3-0 loss to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in parents night at Glenville. The Bucs won 15-5, 15-3, 15-8.

Without Aly Rayman, their leader in kills, the Wolverines continued to have problems offensively at the net.

&uot;When you play good teams and only have 14 kills, that’s not near enough,&uot; said Coach Rayman.

The Wolverines were 42-for-45 serving, led by Jaci Madson at 7-for-7, Arianne Learn 5-for-5, Fallon Lorenzen 5-for-5, Arianne Learn 5-for-5, Jolene Peterson 4-for-4, Megan Avery 6-for-7, Sheri Lair 8-for-10,Sarah Wegner 3-for-3, Emily Bernau 2-for-2.

Other statistics: Peterson 17-for-21 setting, three assists; Avery, one kill; Madson, two kills, one assist; Lair, one kill, one assist; Learn, two kills, two tips; Lorenzen, four assists, one kill; Katie Erickson, two kills, two tips, one block.

The Wolverines lost 15-5, 15-5, 15-1 at Bethlehem Academy Tuesday.

&uot;We kind of struggled on serve receive and passing,&uot; said Coach Rayman. &uot;We need to be more consistent against good teams.&uot;

The Wolverines travel to conference-leading Blooming Prairie next Tuesday.
