WINONA – The Albert Lea High School girls’ swimming and diving team finished eighth among 10 teams in Saturday’s Big Nine Conference meet at Winona.

WINONA – The Albert Lea High School girls’ swimming and diving team finished eighth among 10 teams in Saturday’s Big Nine Conference meet at Winona.

Faribault won with 291 points, followed by Rochester Century with 214, Winona 173, Mankato West 168, Austin 133, Rochester Mayo 113, Owatonna 109, Albert Lea 82, Rochester John Marshall 49 and Mankato East 33.

The lone gold medal for the Tigers went to sophomore Naomi Gregerson, who won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.36 seconds. She was second in the 100 freestyle, clocking 55.19.

The only other individual placewinner for the Tigers was Laura Grund, who took 10th in the 50 free in 27.39.

The Tigers’ top relay was the 200 freestyle, where they clocked 1:49.11 for third place. The Tigers were sixth in the 400 freestyle relay and ninth in the 200 medley.

The Tigers are off until Wednesday, Nov. 10 when they travel to Austin for the Section 1A preliminaries.
