The grand jury decided Monday on Steele County Attorney Doug Ruth’s request for a first-degree murder charge. Ruth maintained that Schleicher lured Jack Johannsen to his home late last December with intent to kill him.

The third district judge will not read the decision until Schleicher, who is undergoing a psychological competency evaluation at St. Peter Regional Treatment Facility, can attend the proceeding.

Ruth could not say when the proceeding would take place, but said it would likely be held before the competency evaluation is completed.
