Ever since he was 18 years old, Eddie Hanson has been a truck driver. He’s been employed by several companies throughout the years, doing local deliveries of all sorts. But for the past 25 years Hanson has been driving for the Albert Lea School District.

On Feb. 26 Hanson will reach the age of 65, and two days later he will officially retire.

&uot;It doesn’t seem like it’s been 25 years already,&uot; he said. &uot;I’ve had good people to work with, from the administration on down.&uot;

It’s obvious he enjoys the people he works with and around. Also apparent is that those people like him.

At Southwest Middle School Wednesday he joked around with fellow workers. The women in the mailroom at Brookside Education Center gave him good-natured grief about letting his wife support him after he retires. Several mentioned that they will miss Hanson when he is gone.

&uot;I’ll still be around though,&uot; he said, noting that he will likely be called on to fill in around the district when needed.

He said he plans to spend more time on his acreage outside Albert Lea, and sees no possibility of getting bored. He always has plenty of stuff to keep him busy.

&uot;I suppose I’ll admit it, I’ll miss it,&uot; he said. &uot;I’ll miss the people.&uot;
