\The Glenville-Emmons first marching band trip – to Orlando, Fla. – is just over a month away.

Dawson, band director for Glenville-Emmons Schools, said the Steak Fry fundraiser at the Glenville Legion hall Saturday was a success. More than 250 people attended.

&uot;It went really well. We’re right on track to raise the money for the trip,&uot; said Dawson.

With about 90 band students going on the trip, Dawson’s goal of raising $30,000 is within reach. That would defray the $500 per-student cost to less than $250, which includes transportation, meals, lodging and gate admission to the theme parks.

&uot; We’re trying to make it as affordable as possible for all the students and their families. This is the kind of trip kids won’t forget,&uot; Dawson said.

The band will march in the Magic Music Days Parade at Epcot Center at Walt Disney World March 27. The students will enjoy nearly a week at Disney World, MGM and the Florida coast.

Dawson has a few more fundraisers planned in the next month, including a community-wide talent and variety show March 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Glenville High School and a Minnesota Medalist Band concert March 18.
