Faribault, the heavy favorite, dominated Saturday’s meet in the new ALHS pool with 469 points. Rochester Century won the second-place battle – barely – with 236 points, followed by the Tigers at 230. Filling out the field were Rochester John Marshall with 220, Winona 207, Owatonna 200, Rochester Mayo 180, Austin 177, Mankato East 148 and Mankato West 118.

The top finish for the Tigers was in the 400-yard freestyle relay, where Mark Hickman, Ben Lindeman, Ryan Lowe and Mitch Johnson combined for second place in 3:33.69.

Patrick Bell, Hickman, Lowe and Ben Matheson teamed for fourth in the 200 medley relay, as did Bell, Lindeman, Colton Jensen and Johnson in the 200 freestyle relay.

Hickman was the top individual placewinner, taking third in the 100 backstroke in 58.60 seconds and fifth in the 200 individual medley in 2:15.18.

Johnson placed fifth in the 200 freestyle in 1:59.22 and 10th in the 500 freestyle in 5:36.35.

Justin Elwood was sixth in the 100 butterfly, clocking 1:04.28.

Other Albert Lea scorers: Lindeman, ninth, 200 free, 2:01.17 and ninth, 500 free, 5:31.86; Ethan Berg, 10th, 100 butterfly, 1:05.04 and 11th, 100 backstroke, 1:03.72; Matheson, ninth, 100 breaststroke, 1:11.54; Tim Pirsig, 12th, 100 breaststroke, 1:12.08; Lowe, seventh, 50 free, 24.31 and ninth, 100 free, 54.43; Josh Elwood, 16th, 100 butterfly, 1:07.71; Jensen, 12th, 500 free, 5:38.87.

The Tigers are off until the Thursday, Feb. 22 section preliminaries. The section finals are Feb. 24.
