Now, the Wolverines only need watch and wait. They’ve done everything within their power.

The Wolverines completed Southeast Conference play with their fifth consecutive victory Tuesday, topping Grand Meadow 65-31 at Glenville. It left the Wolverines 8-2 in conference play and with hopes of at least sharing the league title. Southland was 7-1 before Tuesday with games remaining against LeRoy-Ostrander and Lyle-Austin Pacelli, both formidable teams.

It was also the third game in four days for the Wolverines, who improved their overall record to 13-7.

According to first-year head coach Lane Pearson, Tuesday went pretty much as scripted.

&uot;We came into the game with a lot of confidence, knowing we should win it,&uot; said Pearson. &uot;Right from the start, we played as many girls as we could. All 12 saw considerable playing time and scored. Those nights are fun for everyone.&uot;

And it was a nice chance.

&uot;We haven’t been able to play everyone the last couple games,&uot; said Pearson. &uot;They’ve been tough games. Tonight, it was just kind of an enjoyable blessing, I guess, to be able to do that.&uot;

The Wolverines led 16-3, 34-20 and 56-25 at the quarter breaks.

Senior guard Holly Herr led the Wolverines with 12 points, all on three-pointers, running her career school-record for threes to 33.

Also scoring were Katie Erickson, 10 points; Aly Rayman, seven; Taryn Kaasa, six; Sheri Lair, five; Jill Delger, five; Alisa Rayman, five; Megan Avery, four; Kelly Yost, four; Lauren Bremer, three; Sarah Greibrok, two; Leslie Harlan, two.

The Wolverines made seven three-pointers. They were 8-for-16 at the free-throw line.

The Wolverines finish the regular season Friday with a nonconference home game against Spring Grove.
