Beth Breamer, a receptionist at Bertram Cooper and Co., puts some final touches on tax returns Saturday morning amid stacks of files at the office in downtown Albert Lea. Three accountants were working that day, filling out returns and extensions. Federal income tax returns need to postmarked today to avoid penalties. The Albert Lea post office won’t be open extra hours for late filers today, but mail dropped off by midnight at the mailboxes on East William Street outside the post office will be postmarked April 16.
