The Tigers advanced three individuals to the second round of the Section 1AA tournament, and those players – all underclassmen – obtained some important experience in Tuesday’s final 18 holes at Cannon Falls.

&uot;None of our girls qualified for state,&uot; said Tigers coach Jason Bakke. &uot;However, it was a very good learning experience as all of our girls are underclassmen. We hope to advance to the second day of section as a team next year.&uot;

Hayley Westney led the Tigers Tuesday, shooting a 48 on the front nine and a 55 on the back for a 103. Kari Nelson shot 52 and 53 for a 105. Brie Woitas struggled, taking nine penalty strokes while shooting 120.

Bakke said he and the Tigers did not wait for the final team standings, but Red Wing had a seven-stroke lead entering Tuesday’s play and looked like a good bet to advance to state.
