It’s fun, but it can be difficult to adjust to tougher pitching.

That was the case with the Glenville-Emmons Wolverines, who lost 3-2 to Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander in a sub-section game at Emmons Thursday.

&uot;Their pitcher threw a pretty good ballgame today,&uot; said Wolverines coach Louie Toulouse. &uot;He threw hard, and we haven’t seen anybody like that in a while. That’s the problem with playing weaker teams. When you face somebody who throws hard, by the time you catch up with him the game’s over.&uot;

The Wolverines, 14-7, drop to the loser’s bracket in the double-elimination tournament and will play again Saturday at Austin’s Marcusen Park at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m., depending on Thursday’s other sub-section results.

&uot;We still want to get to section, and there’s no reason why we can’t do it,&uot; said Toulouse. &uot;We just have to win a few more games.&uot;

The Wolverines had four hits Thursday, two by Matt Learn and one apiece by Chase Rayman and Brandon Brackey.

Mitch Meier pitched a complete game, giving up seven hits and no walks, with three strikeouts. The winning run scored on a two-out infield error in the sixth inning.

&uot;It was a good high school baseball game,&uot; said Toulouse. &uot;Both teams played well. We could have just as well won it as lost it.&uot;
