Two of the winners – NRHEG and United South Central – will meet in Thursday’s semifinal round. Alden-Conger pulled off a mild upset.

Kyle Utpadel delivered the big blow at New Richland, a three-run triple. He was 3-for-4. Jens Wyrum went 4-for-4, Zach Jacobson 3-for-5, Clark Field 2-for-3. Field struck out eight while pitching a complete game.

The top-seeded Panthers, 13-5, face No. 3 seed USC Thursday at 5 p.m. at New Richland.

The Rebels exploded for five runs in the top of the first extra inning to win it.

Travis Wermedal was 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs, Adam Grunzke 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs. David Feldt pitched four innings in relief for the win. David Hove started and went the first four.

The Rebels improved their record to 10-7.

Alex Drescher, Ben Drescher, Heath Reindal and Travis Newman all had two hits for the fifth-seeded Knights. Reindal struck out seven while going the distance on the mound.

&uot;It’s been a long season, but we’re getting better,&uot; said coach Randy Bergman.

The Knights, 3-15, play top-seeded Mankato Loyola at 5 p.m. Thursday at LeCenter.
