After a year of planning, arranging, fundraising and negotiating, the Albert Lea Skate Park Association is going to hold a grand opening of their new skate park at the Channel View Courts.

After a year of planning, arranging, fundraising and negotiating, the Albert Lea Skate Park Association is going to hold a grand opening of their new skate park at the Channel View Courts. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, attended by Albert Lea Mayor Bob Haukoos and &uot;Skateboard Stan&uot; Sevaldson.

Other events scheduled for Saturday, May 26:

The Albert Lea Farmer’s Market will be held in the Wal-Mart Parking lot beginning at 9 a.m. Visitors will find a variety of garden produce items, homemade baked goods, jams and jellies for sale.

The Albert Lea Medical Center (ALMC) will hold an Emergency Medical Services week presentation at Northbridge Mall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can tour an ALMC ambulence and meet the crews, buy bike helmets for $5 each, have their blood pressure checked, pick up home safety and emergency care information and register for prizes.
