It was a wake-up call.

The Wolverines rallied for a 6-4 victory and went on to win 9-3 in game two while sweeping a baseball doubleheader at Emmons Monday.

The Wolverines, in first place in the Western Division of the Southeast Conference at 5-1, improved their overall record to 12-5.

It did, however, take them a while to get going.

&uot;The first two innings we did not play very well,&uot; said coach Louie Toulouse. &uot;We came back and got ourselves straightened out.&uot;

Richie Mathis, in particular, was strong through the final four innings, allowing just two baserunners after yielding four runs through the first two frames.

Mathis went the distance, scattering seven hits while walking one and striking out nine. Three of the runs off him were earned.

Seth Stadheim was 2-for-2 with a run scored and three RBIs, Mitch Meier 2-for-2 with one RBI. Andrew Greibrok, Brandon Brackey, Matt Learn, Jay Wadding and Brian Soper each had one hit.

Stadheim was the standout in game two.

The senior left-hander pitched a complete game, giving up three earned runs on eight his. He walked two and struck out nine.

Stadheim was 4-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Brackey went 3-for-4, Wadding 2-for-3 and Nick Flatness 2-for-4. Learn had one hit.

The Wolverines host Southland in a doubleheader Thursday at 4:30.
