Glenville residents and business owners who suffered damage in the May 1 tornado will have another week of assistance from disaster-relief agencies.

Officials from the U.S. Small Business Administration, along with a single Federal Emergency Management Agency representative, plan to maintain their temporary assistance center at Glenville City Hall this week. The center will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

&uot;I felt it was important that we keep staff in Freeborn County for at least a few days longer to answer questions about the disaster loan program and help people complete their SBA applications,&uot; said Michael Allen, the SBA area disaster director.

Allen said he wasn’t sure how long the center would stay open and urged people to come in with their questions as soon as possible. A July 15 SBA loan application gives the situation some urgency, he said. Even if individuals have not settled insurance claims, SBA loan officers can still proceed with applications.

The SBA is an agency that helps not only businesses but homeowners and renters through loans for building repairs, damaged vehicles, machinery and equipment.
