In reality, the Panthers beat themselves.

The home team committed four turnovers and had 14 penalties for 130 yards.

&uot;It was very tough loss,&uot; said coach Adam Barner. &uot;Penalties and turnovers were key. When we limit those mental mistakes, we are as tough as anyone.&uot;

The Panthers’ points came in the first quarter on a safety by Clark Field.

Madelia/Truman scored on a 29-yard touchdown pass with 6:34 remaining.

The Panthers outgained Madelia/Truman 311-203 in total yards and had a 23-11 edge in first downs.

Mike Hullopeter led the defense with 12 tackles. Field had seven, Tyler Moe and Gavin Berg six apiece. Matt Christensen had a sack, Bjorn Peterson an interception.

&uot;The boys played well and they took this hard,&uot; said Barner, whose team fell to 1-2. &uot;But we will just go back and focus on JWP.&uot;

The Panthers play at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton this Friday.
