NEW RICHLAND – The scoreboard said the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva football team was defeated 8-2 by Madelia/Truman Friday night.
In reality, the Panthers beat themselves.
The home team committed four turnovers and had 14 penalties for 130 yards.
&uot;It was very tough loss,&uot; said coach Adam Barner. &uot;Penalties and turnovers were key. When we limit those mental mistakes, we are as tough as anyone.&uot;

&uot;The boys played well and they took this hard,&uot; said Barner, whose team fell to 1-2. &uot;But we will just go back and focus on JWP.&uot;
