He got one of them. The other went in the wrong direction.

The Tigers generated more offense than the previous week but were dominated defensively in a 62-6 loss Friday night.

Albert Lea’s record fell to 0-2 while West improved to 2-0.

The Tigers took the momentum early, with Marcus Thorstad intercepting a pass on the first play from scrimmage, but the offense managed just 2 yards in three plays. West then went 90 yards in 16 plays the other way, taking a 6-0 lead.

A fumble deep in Tiger territory set up the Scarlets’ next score. They added a 53-yard punt return and a 35-yard interception returns for touchdowns before the Tigers scored their first points of the year.

It came in the second quarter on a 35-yard touchdown pass to Jake McClaskey from Tony Tolbers.

The Scarlets returned the ensuing kickoff 42 yards and, three plays later, scored on a 27-yard run. Another Albert Lea fumble gave West the ball back on the Tigers’ 22, setting up a 9-yard scoring run to make it 42-6 at halftime.
