The Rochester Mayo game turned out to be a long night for the Albert Lea High School girls’ basketball team. But the Tigers didn’t have a long time to dwell on it.

After falling 73-33 at Mayo on Friday, the ALHS girls rebounded to beat Northfield 45-35 on parents night Saturday.

&uot;The girls were extremely well composed after the Mayo game,&uot; said coach Karol Hansen. &uot;It was a well balanced effort and a good performance to have for parents night.&uot;

The problem Friday was 31 turnovers and a Mayo team that shot 56 percent from the floor, including 9 of 10 on three-pointers. The Tigers were held scoreless in the second quarter.

Danielle Jacobs had 13 points and three assists, Aubree Page six points and four assists, Beth Kolling four points and four assists. Jenny Vanderploeg added four points.

The Tigers led from the start Saturday, pulling away in the second half.

Jacobs was again the top scorer with 11. Vanderploeg had nine points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Danielle Rankin seven points and four rebounds, Page five points and five rebounds. Jenny Hovendick scored five points. Amy Ravenhorst had three rebounds, Kolling and Ashley Rankin two each.

The Tigers cut their turnovers to 16.

The Tigers are home again Tuesday to face Mankato East in a Big Nine game.
