The main thing on Addington’s mind was a third-quarter run in which Rochester Century outscored his Albert Lea boys’ basketball team 25-11. It was the difference as the Tigers lost 64-59 at Rochester Friday night.

&uot;We played hard,&uot; said Addington. &uot;Give our kids credit for scrapping their way back into it. But good teams don’t have that long of a skid to allow their opponents to take control of a game. We can’t let that happen.&uot;

What happened in the third quarter was tough for the Tigers. In 10 possessions, they had seven turnovers and two missed shots while the Panthers scored eight times.

The Tigers, who trailed by as many as 14 points, rallied within three in the final minute but could get no closer.

The Tigers were up 19-12 after one quarter and 28-27 at halftime. Century led 52-39 after three periods.

Sophomore Ben Woodside led the Tigers with 21 points, six assists and four steals. Josh Kasper scored 17 points, Tyler Young and Jordan Skophammer seven apiece. Young had six rebounds.

Century, coached by Jeff Wells, Addington’s basketball coach at Rochester John Marshall, improved to 8-2 in the Big Nine and 9-4 overall.

The Tigers, 4-5 in the conference and 6-7 overall, play Tuesday at Owatonna.
