Wintertime is a slow time for construction activity. This is reflected in the latest reports from the City of Albert Lea Inspection Department and the Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office.
The city’s February report shows that 19 building permits with a total valuation of $622,738 were issued during the month. This increases the total to 34 building permits with a valuation of $754,713 for the first two months of the year.
At the end of February 2001, the city’s report showed a total of 26 permits with a valuation of $812,786.
The city-issued permit with the highest valuation was for $250,000 issued for the construction of a duplex on Campus Lane.
Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office issued nine permits with a valuation of $193,100 during February. This increases the estimated valuation of permits issued by the county for the first two months of the year to $402,860.
One of the county permits with a valuation of $82,000 was issued to Pro Trucking for a 60 foot by 90 foot building addition.
Another county permit with a valuation of $25,000 was issued to the First National Bank of Kiester for the remodeling of a building in Conger for use as a new branch bank.
