Deloris G. Swanson, 80, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Deloris G. Swanson, age 80, of Albert Lea, will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 10:30 a.m. from Calvary Baptist Church. The Revs. Doug Smither and Charles Rehman will officiate. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Deloris died on Saturday, April 27, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Deloris G. Swanson was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Lake Crystal, the daughter of David and Minda (Bredesen) Christianson. Her parents moved to Bricelyn in 1932 where Deloris attended and graduated from high school in 1940. Following graduation, she worked at the Bricelyn State Bank and the Owatonna State School for the Deaf. She enjoyed roller skating and met her husband, Curt, at an outdoor roller rink in Owatonna. The couple were married on Feb. 5, 1949, and then moved to Albert Lea. In 1962 she worked for the Freeborn National Bank in bookkeeping and as a teller. She also worked for Don Norton Ford, now known as Dave Syverson Ford, as a bookkeeper until she retired in 1985. Deloris was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church playing the piano, singing in the choir and with the ladies trio, women’s mission circle, teaching and helping in Sunday School. After the death of her husband Curt in 1997, Deloris moved to St. John’s Home.

Deloris is survived by her sons: Wayne and wife Carolyn of Crystal, Minn., John and wife Shirley of Delano, Minn., and Roger and wife Brenda of Albert Lea; four grandchildren: Angela, Matthew, Kristy and Jeffrey; sister, Mildred and husband Clarence Duffy of Austin; and four sisters-in-law: Phyllis Olsen of Blue Earth, Betty and husband Bob Johnson of Huntington Beach, Calif., Hazel Wigley of Lake Crystal, and Vivian Wilkinson of Shakopee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis; and three brothers: Everett, Mynard and Lawrence Christianson.
