G-E baseball team sweeps, improves record to 8-1

RUSHFORD &045; The Glenville-Emmons baseball team swept a doubleheader at Rushford-Peterson Friday, running its record to 8-1.
Nick Flatness was 3-for-4 to lead a 14-hit attack in game one, a 6-3 victory. Josh Hansen went 2-for-3, Paul Kleven 2-for-4, Matt Learn 2-for-4. Mitch Meier, Chase Rayman and Jay Wadding added single hits. The key hit was a two-run home run by Learn in the top of the sixth inning.
Richie Mathis pitched 4 1/3 innings for the win. Meier went the final 1 2/3 inning.
Flatness was 2-for-3 with a double as the Wolverines won 9-3 in game two. Rayman was 2-for-3. Kleven, Wadding and Meier had one hit apiece.
Meier improved his pitching record to 4-0 with the win. He gave up one earned run on five hits.
&uot;Our pitching was good, we had some very timely hitting and, for the most part, our defense was excellent,&uot; said Wolverines coach Louie Toulouse.
The Wolverines have a busy week ahead. They host Blooming Prairie at Emmons Tuesday, travel to Southland Thursday and face Lyle/Austin Pacelli in a rescheduled doubleheader at Emmons Friday.
