Clayton M. Johnson, 64, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Clayton M. Johnson, of 109 Fifth Ave. N.W., Albert Lea, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

Clayton died Sunday, April 28, 2002, from complications of diabetes at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 64 years old.

Clayton was born March 15, 1938, at Naeve Hospital, Albert Lea, to Clifford Johnson Sr. and Marvel Myhre. He was raised in the New Richland area and graduated from New Richland High School in 1957. Clayton was a veteran of the Army and served from August 1961 until August 1963. He was a member of the National Guard. Clayton married Dorothy Lozen on February 8, 1964 at St. Louis Church in Mount Clemens, Mich.. He belonged to St. Theodore’s Catholic Church, Albert Lea. Clayton worked for Queen’s for 3o years until the plant closed. He then worked for St. John’s at the Knutson Apartments driving the bus and maintenance. This seemed to be his happiest time, helping people. Clayton was a very gentle and kind person. He was a member of the American Legion. Clayton enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, fishing and telling fishing stories, playing cards, taking his grandchildren to the park, riding in his mustang convertible, and traveling to his children homes in Wisconsin and Arizona. Clayton’s family was the center of his life.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Dorothy Johnson of Albert Lea; three children: Patrick Johnson and special friend Joy Beebe of Mesa, Ariz., Sandra Bera and her husband Robert of Albert Lea and their children, Stephen, Nicholas and Matthew, and Jeffrey Johnson and his wife Michele of Waukesha, Wis., and their children, Sam, Maggie and Annie; brother Clifford Johnson Jr. and his wife Jody of New Richland; sister, JoAnn Klitzke and her husband Robert of Waseca; brothers-in-law: Jack Fraser of Mesa, Ariz., Bertram Lozen Jr. and his wife Elaine of Utica, Mich., Norman Lozen and his wife Kathleen, Donald Lozen and his wife Jane, and Mike Lozen and his wife Jacklen, all of Macomb Township, Mich.; and sisters-in-law: Barbara Sanderson and her husband Robert of Ocala, Fla., Patricia Swanson and her husband Michael of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Katie Lozen of Lake Zurich, Ill.

Clayton is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Marvel Johnson Sr.; stepmother, Alice Johnson; and parents-in-law, Bertram and Marion Lozen.

Clayton was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
